Hi, I'm Natasha Frost. Nice to meet you.

I'm a journalist and aspiring barrister. I am a senior writer at Yahoo, where I write the flagship U.S. newsletter, The Yodel.

In my free time, I study the law and write Lunch Date, a free weekly Substack newsletter about all the things I'd like to tell you over lunch. You might have seen my freelance work in The Guardian, various BBC publications, Time, Slate, and elsewhere.

Until July 2025, I was a journalist at The New York Times, mostly based in Melbourne, Australia. Over five years at the paper, I wrote the Europe Briefing, a daily newsletter for readers throughout the region, and the Australia Letter, and I reported from across Australia and New Zealand. I previously worked for Atlas Obscura, the BBC, Radio New Zealand and Quartz.

Some facts: I live in London with my philosopher husband. I love to draw. I am Jewish. I collect recipe books. I'm a citizen of Austria and the United Kingdom and a (slightly rusty) French speaker. I am passionate about issues relating to freedom of expression and the right to communicate. I call New Zealand home.
